Short version: nothing leaves your browser.
Page2Prompt runs entirely on your device. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no cookies of its own. The only data it touches — the page you choose to convert, plus that page's title and URL — is read when you click the toolbar icon and is stored only in your browser. If you use Send to AI, that content goes to the service you picked, and nowhere else.
Page2Prompt ("the extension", "we", "us") is a browser extension for Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers that converts the page you are viewing into Markdown suitable for large language models.
This policy explains what the extension does with information on your device. It applies to the extension and to this policy page only. It does not apply to third-party websites you choose to open, including AI chat services.
When you click the Page2Prompt icon, the extension requests temporary access to the active tab, reads the article's content from the page, and converts it to Markdown locally. The conversion code — including the readability extractor and the Markdown converter — is bundled with the extension and runs on your device.

Both stores live in your browser profile. You can delete individual clips, clear the whole history from the extension's History view, or remove all data by uninstalling the extension. We cannot access, retrieve or restore this data because it never reaches us.
When you press "Copy Markdown", the converted text is written to your system clipboard. The extension reads the clipboard only if a feature explicitly requires pasting, and it does not monitor or log clipboard contents. Clipboard access is triggered only by your action.
The "Send to AI" feature opens a new tab for the service you select — for example ChatGPT, Claude, Kimi or Gemini. For services that accept pre-filled input through a URL parameter, the converted text is included in that address, which means your browser sends it to the selected service when the page loads. For services that do not support pre-filling, the text is copied to your clipboard and you paste it yourself.
In both cases the transfer is initiated by you, one click at a time, and only to the service you picked. Page2Prompt has no server of its own and does not send your content anywhere else. Once a third-party page is open, that service's privacy policy and terms apply to what it receives.

The extension does not request host_permissions, tabs, history, cookies, webRequest or any other sensitive permission.
For transparency, this is how the extension maps to the Chrome Web Store data categories. "Local only" means the data is processed or stored on your device and is never transmitted to us or to any third party by the extension itself. The one exception is content you explicitly send to an AI service with the "Send to AI" button, which goes only to the service you selected.

Page2Prompt's use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data accessed through browser APIs is used only to provide the extension's single purpose: converting the page you are viewing into Markdown on your device.
Because no data is transmitted, there is no server-side store to breach. All code that handles page content ships inside the extension package; the extension does not load or execute remote code. You can inspect the package contents in chrome://extensions at any time.
The extension is a developer productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
If the extension's data practices change — for example, if an optional cloud sync feature is introduced — this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the effective date above will change. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's changelog and on its store listing.
